OUR MISSION

Help people live happier and more satisfied lives, by prioritizing and using their free-time for what matters most to them.

We all have different priorities, and what matters most is unique to each person. Some of us love socializing, while others prefer doing a facial at home. We don't judge when it comes to priorities: if you love binge-watching shows, we say 'Binge!' If you love socializing, we say  'Go out!' If you're into working on your side hustle, we say 'Hustle away!'

WHAT TO EXPECT

Using our unique survey and time allocation methodology, we recommend ways to use your free-time every week, based on YOU. We also take the heavy lifting off of your plate and do the scheduling for you.

What's our survey based in? So glad you asked! To develop our methodology for tracking satisfaction levels and prioritizing activities, we took cues from the Day Reconstruction Method and the American Time Use Survey.

You might be thinking: this sounds great, but follow through is hard. We know -- lucky for you (and us), you won't be alone. OptiTime includes a coach and accountability buddy, checking in every day.

It all started when I took microeconomics. Utility baskets fascinated me: given $50, each person would spend it differently. I got much more bang for my buck with a mocha versus a sandwich. Friends of mine were fine with free Spotify, I would never. There is no better use of $10.  

 

People seemed aware of what purchases made the best use of their dollar.​ But what about time? Why do so many people recognize the utility and opportunity costs of money, but not time? After all, it’s the most finite resource.

After college, I discovered a new challenge. With work and unavoidable tasks (cooking, laundry), I felt I had no free time. At the end of a week, I wished I had seen my friends, read, volunteered...But even when I actively thought about what I wanted to do — I wasn’t sure which activity would give me the most utility.
​
So I researched behavior change, choice theory, well-being, and time-use, and came up with
OPTITIME. Our science backed approach helps you spend your free time in ways that align with your values and priorities, not anyone else’s.
